Spotlight On Stacy Dominguez

Stacy Dominguez still remembers the moment her Follies journey began. “I saw an article in the Dallas Morning News in 2008 about a senior showcase with showgirls. I wasn’t a Highland Park society lady, but something about it stuck with me.”

With no stage experience, Stacy showed up to the audition in a turtleneck and jeans, her high heels tucked into a paper bag. “I found a room full of the most beautiful older people I’d ever seen,” she recalls. A warm welcome from a fellow performer helped ease her nerves, and before long, Mark Carroll (one of the founders of the Spectacular Follies) took one look and said, “You’re gorgeous!” She did a little spin—and was in.

That leap of faith led to years of unforgettable memories. “The Follies gave me my second act,” Stacy says. “After years in the corporate world, it gave me confidence and a new perspective on what I was capable of.”

Her iconic Marilyn Monroe impersonation—complete with wig, black gown, and a beauty mark—became a signature role. “Being a Marilyn impersonator was something I never imagined. Singing ‘Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend’ was my all-time favorite act. Who would think I’d get to perform the most iconic song by the most iconic actress in Hollywood history?”

Behind the scenes, there were laughs too—like the time she and a fellow showgirl forgot to press the elevator button and nearly missed their cue. “We got to the stage just in time. We laughed about that for a long time.”

Over the years, Stacy cherishes the friendships formed most of all. “Some are still in the show, some have passed. But it’s the people who kept me coming back. The Follies makes us young again.”

Her advice for others? “Anyone who wants to spread their wings and try something unique should think about joining the team. I never thought I had any special talent, but the Follies Family gave me the spirit to keep trying.”
